Couples Therapy

Again.

The. Slammed. Door.
You sigh.
This is the fifth argument this week.
It’s been six years, SIX years only to come to this?
“What is going on?” You ask yourself.
There MUST be a way… There MUST be a better way.

When there must be a choice – go forward together or separately

John thought to himself, “I don’t want to deal with this anymore. This is too much; too much fighting.”

He grabs the remote and turns up the volume on the TV. I just need a break from life, from everything….

John was tired from work and figuring out how to make enough to cover the mortgage, expenses and the family trip that was coming up.

Samantha was in the bedroom, wondering to herself, “Is this the end of our marriage? Why can’t we understand each other? Why do my feelings not matter? Why does he do that all the time?”

“Do we want to make this work?” Samantha came up to John and asked that question. John responded, “I was just asking myself that very question…”

“Honey, I want to make this work” Samantha said.

“Let’s get some help,” responded John.

John and Samantha decide to reach out for help.

It’s never one-sided… both partners have an impact on the relationship.

This couple had experienced different stresses, and those factors played a role in how they were interacting with each other.

John and Samantha were having a hard time communicating and focusing on their own relationship because everything seemed clouded. With therapy, John and Samantha were able to learn ways to understand each other’s feelings and added tools to enhance their relationship.

Couples therapy works to strengthen the relationship, overcoming hurdles of miscommunication, misunderstandings, while widening the foundation of love and understanding for one another.

Couples therapy works to be a mirror to bring a reflection of the actual relationship, while also bringing to attention ways which the reflection can improve.

Insight.

Therapy is all about insight, gaining insight and working with the new information to make progress, to become better, and to overcome life’s challenges, even challenges with your partner.

Couples therapy brings a new view into what is going on in the relationship and brings a safe space to talk about things in a healthy way, improving the way the relationship works while strengthening what is already going well in the relationship.

While working with couples, often they find that they can regain what they thought they lost and come to a place where they understand one another.

Couples therapy provides a way to bring intimacy back into the relationship on all levels.
